My son has been working on his essay, but it is close to 400 words. Will his submission be disqualified or scored lower if it is more than 250 words?

Thank you so much for allowing our youth to participate in such a great opportunity! I love the idea of the kids reading a finance book and then expressing how they can apply the concepts in the real world! What a great idea! When preparing this essay, I expressed to my son the importance of reading carefully and following the contest rules. It was challenging limiting his ideas to 250 words. Later, I read a response to a parent's comment indicating "there will be no penalties for essays over 250 words". If you will be so kind, please do not discount essays of only 250 words since this was the original essay criteria. Thank you again for all that you do for youth all over the country!

Hello. Just wanted to comment because, until the contest, I was unaware of your bank and the fact that it is black owned and operated. I must say, that as a black parent, I am most grateful for the nudge and encouragement to incorporate financial literacy into our family's learning. This contest was also a huge motivator for my 9 year old son who is not usually big on reading and writing. He actually was so excited about the prospect of having his own bank account with that amount of money, that he immediately started to compose his own thoughts and ideas about the subject. After, of course, I had to explain to him that the essay is about what he'd learned from reading, but I was extremely impressed by the initiative he'd taken. I was a bit disappointed when we were unable to locate the actual book. One of the libraries even looked into ordering it, but it was too expensive. We opted to use other books that were available from the library. Thanks again for helping my family to become more aware of our money habits and for teaching us how important it is to create money goals. A Proud Parent
