Dear Future Us,
It’s Juneteenth, 2025. This year, we embrace the promise of legacy and the incredible journey that began with freedom declared.
Fifty years from now, we hope you’re not just surviving—we hope you’re redefining the word thriving in a way that truly embodies the progress we envision. We hope you’re living in neighborhoods you own, working in businesses you built, and raising families with abundant opportunities, not limiting obstacles. We hope you’re finding peace, enjoying life’s simple joys, and crafting the next chapter of our collective brilliance, feeling free in more ways than we could’ve imagined.
Here in 2025, we acknowledge the path still before us. We are continually learning, growing, and rebuilding. There are moments of challenge and profound reflection that strengthen our resolve each day. Just as our ancestors awaited the news of their freedom, today we navigate evolving landscapes, working toward a future where justice flourishes, equity is realized, and truth prevails. We are consistently laying the groundwork for positive change.
While freedom was declared in 1865, and later solidified with the 13th Amendment, every generation since has been actively defining what that freedom truly means and securing it. Juneteenth stands as our annual checkpoint, a sacred moment where the echoes of yesterday inspire the aspirations of tomorrow. It’s a time for us to celebrate the journey and renew our collective commitment.
We are focused on building a foundation for future prosperity. We’re saving more, owning more, and instilling the values of sound financial practices and strong community ties in our children. We’re proactively nurturing our mental and financial well-being. We’re also reclaiming time for ourselves—because rest is a vital part of sustained progress—and our energy is a resource to be wisely managed, not endlessly spent.
This Juneteenth, we are concentrating on growth and community enrichment. While we have always illuminated paths to progress, this year, we are especially investing in ourselves and pouring into our neighborhoods. We are dedicated to building futures that our grandchildren will proudly inherit.
True freedom and lasting prosperity are not achieved overnight. There may be days that test our courage and challenge our confidence. However, we promise to continue bravely learning from the past and passionately building for the future.
Signed,
OneUnited Bank
