9 Summertime Jams You Need to Add to Your Playlist!

9 summer jams you need to add to your playlist.

Music is inspirational. It inspires us to overcome obstacles, do our best work and even take a moment to relax, recharge and rise! What will relax and recharge you to build generational wealth? How about a playlist!

What is summer without its signature summer songs… and a couple of classics? Ok, we might have more than a couple of classics in our lineup. Grab your sunglasses, sunscreen, and get ready because our playlist is on fire!

1. SUMMERTIME

It wouldn’t be a summer playlist without Summertime by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince.

We love the 90s! This is the perfect carefree groove for the beach, pool party, or barbecue at the park. Nothing brings everyone together more than the nostalgia of summer past.

2.FLY GIRL

This bop is for the fly girls, only! The new-and-upcoming IT-girls, FLO, collaborated with rap superstar, Missy Elliot, for this feel-good anthem, Fly Girl.

It’s evident we created this playlist with a theme. Summer 2023 is all about reminding ourselves of our power. From the mani to the pedi to the hair, summer is no match when we are outside!

3. I LOOK GOOD

What did Chalie Boy say, again? “On my mama, on my hood, I look fly, I look good!”

Victoria Monét recently took us back when she referenced this iconic song reminding us that, yes indeed, we DO look good! Her 2023 version lyrics, “I’m so deep in my bag, like a grandma with a peppermint” are audaciously accurate for our summer agenda. Get deep in YOUR bag and make up to $1,000/mo[1] when you refer a friend to OneUnited Bank!

4. COMMITTED

Get into this new vibe, Committed, by No Guidance. Warning: catching feelings IS possible!

We put out a sign saying “Runs and Harmonies Wanted,” and No Guidance delivered. Many netizens online are discussing the resurgence of R&B and how “R&B is not dead.” Indeed, it’s taken a new form and we love all the new artists redefining the genre!

5. WHERE THE PARTY AT

It’s summertime, so the main question of the season is always “Where’s the party?”

Summer is nothing without this legendary song by Jagged Edge and Nelly on repeat. This is one of the songs you only need to play 2 seconds of the intro for everyone to know what time it is!

6. LOVE IS WICKED

Love Is Wicked by Brick and Lace comes in to represent our Islanders!

Instant memories unlocked. If you haven’t heard this Caribbean anthem, accompanied by the iconic Diwali beat, it’s time. The beat is wicked, wicked, wicked!

7. SABILITY

Sability by Ayra Star is a West African classic and Sabi Nation certified.

Coming from the Nigerian Pidgin English word for “can-do” or “capable,” Sability essentially means someone skilled, talented, or capable. Ayra Starr has the ability to make us dance and release worries!

8. FULL MOON COVER

We love a beautiful cover of a classic song. Coco Jones surely delivered on this cover of Brandy’s “Full Moon.”

When we said throwback we meant throwback! A unique take on covering an iconic jam, Coco Jones celebrated Black Music Month with this homage to Brandy’s Full Moon. We love seeing emerging artists showcase classics with a new twist.

9. SUMMER RENAISSANCE

Beyonce has reclaimed, or rather reminded, us that dance music is BLACK in origin. Let’s dance!

It’s a chrome disco summer! No, we are not over the Renaissance album, and probably never will be. Talk about joy and embracing life. Summer Renaissance reminds us of the legacy of club culture, queer legends, and ballroom icons.

Our 2023 summer playlist – our best yet-is an elite collection of tunes that are guaranteed to set your summer on fire. Whether you are sharing memories at your family reunion, cruising down the coast, redeeming your debit card points for a destination trip, or dancing the night away, these songs are the perfect companion to your summer adventures.

A mature man with a bald head and a salt-and-pepper beard, wearing glasses and a light-colored button-down shirt, intently examines a piece of paper in his hands. He's seated at a table next to a mature woman with shoulder-length blonde hair and a light blue shirt. She looks thoughtfully at a laptop screen that is partially visible in the foreground. They appear to be in a kitchen setting, with a stainless steel range hood visible in the background. The overall impression is one of focused concentration as they review documents or information together.
