Thank You For An Amazing 2016

It’s hard to believe that another year has come to an end. We would like to thank you for your support and share our year through our “Thank You Video!”

One of the most prominent events of the year happened during the summer of 2016, when Rapper Killer Mike issued a national wakeup call and call to action for Black people resulting from the shooting deaths of Alton Sterling and Philandro Castile. He urged Black Americans to withdraw $100 from their savings accounts and move it to a Black owned bank.

The #BankBlack Challenge Was Born

With the call to action from Killer Mike, Solange, Usher and others, the amount of funds moved to OneUnited Bank and other Black owned banks increased and the #BankBlack Challenge was born.

We challenged the Black community to open a OneUnited Bank UNITY Savings account online from anywhere in the U.S and to challenge 20 friends to do the same. And because we asked and you acted, we were able to add $20,000,000 in deposits and so much more!

Thank you from the very bottom of our hearts for making 2016 a great year! We hope you have a very happy and healthy New Year and we look forward to what 2017 will bring to us all.
