Question: How can I open an account online?

Answer: Simply follow the steps provided on our website to open an account. Our website will walk you through every step along the way.


Question: I currently have an account with OneUnited Bank and would like to open an online CD, checking, or savings account. How can I do that?

Answer: You can open and fund your new online account right from within Online Banking. Simply log into Online Banking and click on the “Account Services” tab then “Open an Account”. If you are not currently enrolled in online banking, simply enroll by clicking here


Question: Is my deposit FDIC insured?

Answer: Yes. OneUnited Bank is an FDIC insured institution which insures deposits up to $250,000. If you would like more information on deposit insurance coverage, please visit the FDIC website ( or contact the FDIC.


Question: My account was not approved, but I received a trial deposit to my bank account. Why?

Answer: Trial deposits are made to assist us in verifying your identity during the account opening process for new online accounts. Your account may be under review. You will receive emails from us that will include the status of your account application and any additional information we need. Thanks for your patience.


Question: I am having trouble returning to my application to verify my trial deposit. Why?

Answer: Find the email from OneUnited Bank that explains the funding verification process and has a unique link for you to verify your trial deposit. This email came to you right after you completed your application to tell you to check your account after 2 to 3 days to confirm your trial deposit. Click on the link in this email.


Question: What happens to the trial deposit if I do not complete my application or my application is declined?

Answer: Trial deposits may be withdrawn.


Question: My initial deposit was withdrawn from my account at my bank. Did you receive it?

Answer: It can take up to 3 business days to receive an initial electronic deposit. Do not worry…as soon as your deposit is received, we will credit your account. You can view your account in online banking.


Question: Why do I have to send you a copy of my driver’s license? Where do I send it?

Answer: We need a copy of your driver’s license as part of our identity verification process any time your account application requires a review, you request that we send you a check, or make a request to change your address. Please send it to OneUnited Bank, Internet Banking, 3683 Crenshaw Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90016 or fax it to (323) 290-8245.


Question: When will I get my account number?

Answer: For security purposes, your account number will not be included in any emails from us. You will receive a welcome letter with your account number in the mail within 2 – 7 days after we have received your initial deposit. You can view your account number by accessing online banking too.


Question: Do you review credit information when opening accounts?

Answer: No. Our account opening system only uses credit information to verify your identity. This information is not retained by OneUnited Bank.


Question: I had problems with bank accounts in the past. Can I open an account with OneUnited Bank?

Answer: We recommend you try our U2 E-Checking account, which is a second chance checking account. This product was designed to help people who have a ChexSystems record. OneUnited Bank uses ChexSystems to review applicants’ banking experience with other financial institutions. This service only reports deposit experiences. We encourage responsible management of bank accounts. (If you have high or recent balances owed to a financial institution for a deposit account, you may be declined for an online account but our decision is based on a number of factors. We may need additional information from you).


Question: Can you email/send me an application to open an internet account?

Answer: For all of our online accounts, our account opening process is only online so that we can verify your identity. We do not offer applications through email or mail.


Question: I am not a US citizen. Can I open an internet account?

Answer: We do not offer our online accounts to non U.S. citizens. Our online identity verification process can only verify the identity of U.S. citizens. We appreciate your interest, but cannot meet your needs at this time.


Question: Can I open multiple online accounts, all in my name?

Answer: Yes. You can open multiple accounts during the online account origination process.
If you are an existing OneUnited Bank customer, you will need to complete the online account opening process for each additional account. Simply log into Online Banking and click on the “Account Services” tab then “Open an Account” for all additional accounts. If you are not currently enrolled in online banking, simply enroll by clicking here.


Question: Can I open an account for my child or grandchild?

Answer: You must be at least 18 years old to open any of our online accounts, however you can name your child, grandchild or other person as a beneficiary. Please request in writing that we add your beneficiary to your account. Mail your correspondence with a copy of our state issued identification used to open the account to OneUnited, Customer Support, 3683 Crenshaw Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90016. You will receive a confirmation e-mail of the change to your account.


Question: Can I open multiple accounts in my name and my children’s names and receive more FDIC insurance?
